• Our new Resource Coordinator, Jordan Talley, stopped by to introduce himself to the SCPA community! The Resource Coordinator connects students to the community and provides resources to support students and their families. Welcome, Jordan!
• Our Communications Director, Melissa Jones, has been reaching out to the Art Departments of SCPA to see how the PTSO can help. Do you know a teacher or classroom that needs help with supplies, volunteers, etc? Please reach out to the PTSO!
• Principal Updates:
  • Parent Teacher Conferences are this Thursday, November 14. The PTSO will be supplying dinner for teachers. Please note that conferences can take place at any time. Just reach out to your child’s teacher.
  • SCPA has submitted our support for the 12th Street crosswalk proposal!
  • Staff has been utilizing Title One funds to support our students. Every month staff is able to request funds with a quote and a justification form to receive funds. There have been requests each month. The school has been using these funds to pay teachers for extended tutoring hours for kindergarten and grades 1, 3, and 6!
• Artistic Director Updates:
  • Went to DC with faculty members to Arts School Network Conference. There were great ideas for arts curriculum, like how to create conversations around social issues using art. This curriculum has different themes by year, and uses integrated arts, social engagement and history. We are looking to launch next year. SCPA was awarded the Exemplary Arts School designation. We are one of only 14 schools in the United States to receive this award! There is a possibility SCPA might host the conference in the future.
  • SCPA swept the Book by the Banks Poetry competition!
  • Outside Auditions are during the second to last week in January. We will need volunteers for the comfort station and tour guides. The PTSO will share more information as we get closer!
• The SCPA Soiree is this Saturday night at Pebble Creek Event Center! Please come on out and enjoy. If you’d like to attend but cannot buy a ticket, please reach out as we have some complementary tickets to hand out!
