There is always something exciting going on at SCPA! Here are a few updates about some fun sports, workshops, and community events!
Major Musical Volunteers Needed
We need your help to make our Major Musical a success! Please consider volunteering to help backstage, with concessions, or candygrams. If you can help, please sign up below!
Tool Talks
Check out this information about Tool Talks, the monthly information sessions that help families understand special education and related topics.
Basketball
The SCPA All-Stars is a co-ed, inclusive of all ages and skill levels, weekly basketball league taking place at the OTR YMCA, just a stones throw from the school.
Every Saturday from 1-2p, students will spend the first half of practice learning the basics before scrimmaging for the second half.
Free snacks are provided weekly, and participation is free. Currently the only requirement is a YMCA membership, although we are working on agreeing to a drop in day rate for families who are not members and just want to have a pay to play option for their children.
The season runs through winter until Spring Break 2026. Kids in K-7 are elible to play. Contact Bobby Goodwin for more info! (rpgoodwin AT gmail.com)
Library Resources
Did you know that K-8 students can get free, walk-in, one-on-one homework help at the library? This amazing resource is availble at select locations, so be sure to check out their website! https://chpl.org/teens/homework/
Community Help: SNAP & Shutdown
Have you or a family member been affected by the government shutdown or the suspension of SNAP benefits? Do you know someone who is struggling right now? Please reach out to our wonderful Resource Coordinator, Jordan Talley. The SCPA community has been collecting canned goods and grocery store gift cards for those affected by the shutdown/SNAP suspension. We’ll pull through this together!
